Janet Nguyen Announces Huntington Beach Endorsements

Huntington Beach, Calif. - - Today Senator Janet Nguyen announced key endorsements from the City of Huntington Beach in her campaign for Supervisor. The endorsements include the Fab Four, Mayor Tony Strickland, Mayor Pro-Tem Gracey Van Der Mark, Councilman Pat Burns, Councilman Casey McKeon, and elected City Attorney Michael Gates. Also known as “Surf City,” Huntington Beach makes up 35% of the First Supervisorial District and is the largest voting block by city in the district.

 

“Janet Nguyen is a conservative who wins tough elections and a public servant with a deep commitment to our community. Her track record as a champion for taxpayers is what we need on the Board of Supervisors," said Mayor Tony Strickland.

 

“Huntington Beach deserves a leader that will be an advocate for our city on the Board of Supervisors," said City Attorney Michael Gates. “Senator Janet Nguyen has an unparalleled record of standing up for local control and local rights, and that is what we need more than ever.”

 

The endorsements today from Huntington Beach follow the recent endorsements from the influential Lincoln Club of Orange County and from Senator Kelly Seyarto, Assemblyman Phil Chen, Assemblywoman Diane Dixon, Assemblywoman Laurie Davies, Assemblywoman Katie Sanchez, former Assembly Republican Leader Scott Baugh, and former Senate Republican Leader Pat Bates, as well as from City Councilmembers in Garden Grove and Fountain Valley.

 

Senator Janet Nguyen resides in Huntington Beach with her husband Tom and two sons who both attend public school within the city. In 2022 Senate election, Senator Nguyen received over 46,000 total votes in Huntington Beach beating her opponent who was a sitting Huntington Beach Councilwoman by 16%.

Janet Nguyen was overwhelmingly elected to the State Senate in 2022. Janet is a small-business owner, a former State Assemblymember, former Orange County Supervisor, and former Garden Grove City Councilmember. She is the former Vice-President of Government and Public Affairs for a local Chamber of Commerce.

 

Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Senator Janet Nguyen and her family escaped communism on a small wooden 10-meter boat sailing across the Southeast Asia Sea in search of freedom. After passing through numerous refugee camps, Janet and her family arrived in California in 1981. She is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine. She has lived in the district for over 30 years and currently resides in Huntington Beach with her husband, Tom, and two sons.
